Austwel successfully delivered a complex civil engineering package at the Kingsbury Oil Terminal for British Pipelines Agency. The project focused on upgrading critical infrastructure to support new pump instrumentation and cable systems, all within a COMAH-regulated environment. Operating under stringent safety protocols, the Austwel team constructed reinforced concrete structures, carried out precision excavations, and reinstated existing access features to ensure the facility maintained full operational integrity throughout.

Scope of Work
Concrete Foundations
- Constructed reinforced concrete slabs for new pump instrumentation and cable tray bases.
- Installed smaller ancillary bases for supporting electrical ductwork and connection equipment.
Precision Excavation & Pipe Protection
- Deployed vacuum excavation to safely remove large volumes of gravel and expose existing product drain pipework.
- Protected pipework with expansion jointing material before concrete backfilling
Roadworks & Trough Installation
- Used a floor saw to cut existing tarmac and excavated a trench for a precast concrete service trough installation.
- Reinstated gravel batter and completed concrete margins to a high standard of finish.
Health & Safety Compliance
All plant and equipment fitted with Chalwyn valves and spark arrestors, meeting the high safety requirements of the COMAH site.
