Austwel Ltd was appointed to carry out a critical infrastructure upgrade involving the installation of underground cable ducting and associated chambers. The works required careful excavation, concrete reinstatement, and precision placement of ducting systems to maintain service continuity and comply with site-specific engineering standards.
Scope of Work
Excavation & Chamber Installation
- Excavated to expose the top of existing ducts.
- Installed a 750mm x 750mm concrete duct chamber fitted with a B125-rated cover.
- Backfilled with appropriate material and compacted.



Trench Excavation & Duct Installation
- Excavated trench to connect Location 1 to Location 2.
- Installed two 100mm black cable ducts with marker tape.
- Backfilled using as-dug material.
Excavation & Chamber Installation
- Used a floor saw to cut existing tarmac and excavated a trench for a precast concrete service trough installation.
- Completed concrete margins to a high standard of finish.
Connection to Existing Infrastructure
- Excavated trench from Location 2 to existing duct chamber at Location 3.
- Broke out a section of the existing concrete footpath and penetrated the side wall of the existing duct chamber.
- Reinstated the concrete footpath to match the existing profile.
- Final Site Finishing
- All disturbed areas were reinstated to match existing levels and finishes, ensuring minimal visual and structural impact on the surrounding infrastructure.
